Before touring PDA to learn more about the Department, the 2014 Pennsylvania Farm Bureau interns met with Sec. Greig to discuss the PA agriculture industry and duties as Sec. of Agriculture.
Sec. Greig renewed PDA’s commitment for another five years to the Hunters Sharing the Harvest (HSH) program though PDA's Bureau of Food Distribution. The bureau reimburses participating processors for costs of preparing donated deer.
The Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Ride and Measurement Standards registers nearly 9,500 amusement rides and attractions – more than any other state or foreign country – and certifies and trains the state’s more than 1,400 professional private industry inspectors.
Sec. Greig joined partners from the Central PA Food Bank and Harrisburg Dairies and representatives from the PA Assoc. of Milk Dealers, Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association and the Center for Dairy Excellence at the food bank to kickoff an innovative milk distribution pilot program.
As part of an ag trade mission to China, Sec. Greig and USDA Under Secretary Scuse toured a Sam's Club selling imported PA products.
